What happens when you pass away? The very question implicates that one goes somewhere. Away. But where? As I live in a Sikh neighborhood I think it is a good idea to adopt their viewpoint. And they have an answer to the question too, as Sikh are very strong in their belief of reincarnation. It suites me fine, albeit that
I would like to be in charge of the 'reincarnation department' and decide on the life form one passes on to. And I have a very good reason for that too.
The second Monday of October is Thanksgiving Day in Canada. A day to celebrate the harvest and other blessings of the past year. It being a Monday is quite handy because since 1957 it is also a holiday and therefor a nice extension to the weekend. Canadians seize this opportunity to gather around the table with their loved ones for the traditional Thanksgiving dinner.
The food served is similar to that on the menu of 'the First Thanksgiving' in 1621, with turkey taking a
primary place. Note the lowercase. I am talking about the feathery ones here. Now, imagine showing up at the reincarnation desk and being giving the special of the week, turkey. Besides the somewhat silly outfit one has to wear with feathers tickling everywhere, it can also mean that you have to run for your life. Very stressful.

And not every turkey can outrun the led pellets that are fired at it. Nope, I saw the irrefutable evidence piled up in the supermarket.
Not a pretty sight from a turkey's perspective. Do not get complacent once the second Monday of October is behind you either. Not all the bad luck has been served yet. There is more to come. Christmas. My theory is that there is a lot of left over turkey after Thanksgiving. What better occasion than the Festive Season to devour it.

However, when there is not enough left to serve the Christmas cracker popping mob around the dining table, replenishment is needed. There you have it.
A word of advise is in place here I think. Whenever you think of passing away, be sure not to plan doing so prior to Thanksgiving weekend. Or Christmas for that matter. Because as long as you are not in charge of the reincarnation department you never now what card you are dealt. It may be the special of the week, turkey....
